If you are currently suffering with AchillesTendonitis/Tendinosis in Brisbane you may have experienced the debilitating pain that can be associated with it. The Achilles Tendon is the anchor for the calf muscles, and is the strongest tendon in the body. Overuse of or excessive/repetitive strain of it can result in tiny micro-tears or an actual tear (or tears), often at or near its attachment to the Calcaneus (heel bone),or further up in the mid-portion of the tendon. This can lead to significant pain and discomfort. At Heal My Heel, we see many patients with this complaint. If you are experiencing heel pain, we can help you, so please contact us on

Brisbane Achilles Tendonitis/Tendinosis Treatment

If you have an acute or chronic Achilles problem in Brisbane(or a surrounding area), you are all too familiar with its symptoms. Because it can be debilitating and longstanding it's important to get treatment that will relieve your pain by treating the causes and not just the symptoms. By consulting with our Heal My Heel practitioner in Brisbane you can achieve just that. The pain of Achilles Tendonitis/Tendinosis is often associated with:

  • A burning pain at the back of the heel, either with or without an associated lump.
  • Pain upon rising. People with Achilles problems often notice that their first steps in the morning, or upon rising from a seated position are particularly painful.
  • Pain during or following long periods on one's feet, or strenuous activities such as running.

Some Useful Advice Regarding Achilles Tendonitis/Tendinosis

With any injury/disorder, it's essential to take the right steps to encourage a quicker healing time while also preventing re-injury. That's why knowing what to do when you have AchillesTendonitis/Tendinosis is vital. Here are some tips to help you avoid some commonly made mistakes.

  • Surgery is a very last resort. Beware if your doctor or a surgeon recommends surgery after having had it for less than 18 months. Almost all cases of Achilles     Tendonitis/Tendinosis can be resolved with the right conservative treatments such as low level laser therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, footwear changes, and effective, purpose-made orthotics.
  • Don't delay treatment. As with other pathologies, Achilles problems may get worse or become chronic if you delay treatment. Continuing your normal activities with a damaged Achilles Tendon can make it much worse. Be sure to seek treatment right away if you notice symptoms of this disorder, as its probably been brewing for some time.
  • Use ice and pain relief medication with caution. Ice may relieve pain and swelling but keeping it on your skin for too long can cause tissue damage. Likewise, using pain relief medication as a temporary fix to allow you to engage in activities may exacerbate your symptoms and can worsen your problem. Avoid cortisone     injections altogether as these can further damage the Tendon and surrounding tissues.
  • Be diligent and patient with your treatment and rehabilitation. Conservative treatments are only beneficial if you do them correctly and often enough. Be sure to follow instructions carefully, from how often to rest or stretch to how often you need to wear your orthotics if you have them. Be patient, it may take several weeks or even months to completely heal your heel.
